An art incubator

Kongkee is an animation and comic artist whose award-winning, crowdfunded, sci-fi animation Dragon’s Delusion follows the physical and spiritual train journey of a historic figure, and whose inspiration comes from everyday life in Hong Kong. Eighteen units in Foo Tak Building in Wanchai are rented to artists and non-profit organisations at below market rates through the generosity of a visionary landlord, and Kongkee attends talks, readings, screenings, performances and exhibitions there as well as using the independent, not-for-profit bookstore and enjoying the company of other artists.

Hong Kong-based animation director and comics artist Kong Khong-chang, aka Kongkee, is the director of the comics and art company Penguin Lab. He has an MA in Creative Media from the City University of Hong Kong. In 2015, Travel to Hong Kong with Blur was published in collaboration with internationally known band BLUR on their hit album The Magic Whip. In 2020, his original animation and comic project Dragon’s Delusion - Preface won the Asia Grand Prize at the 22nd Japanese digicon6 Awards.
