The Gemdale Corporation office building in Kunming was given a new and distinct personality with two art installations, an outdoor “pavilion” composed of steel frames, and a set of panels and cantilever shutter blinds, inspired by the Stone Forest, a nearby group of limestone formations. The pavilion’s serial frame structure rises from the ground to different heights, and people can move around and look through the brightly coloured installation. One Plus Partnership’s design brings the otherwise structured office building to life.
Virginia Lung and Ajax Law’s One Plus Partnership has designed interiors for cinemas, restaurants, shops, clubhouses and offices since 2004. Each project is distinctive, yet clearly their own original and outstanding exploration of a theme.
